Australia's First Bill of Rights

ACTHRA PROJECT: Assessing the impact of the ACT HUMAN RIGHTS ACT 2004

Western Australia

The Consultative Committee has now released its report recommending a Human Rights Act for Western Australia.

However, the response of the government has so far been cautious, suggesting that a WA Human Rights Act may be put on hold pending the proposed consultations about a federal charter of rights. See Attorney-General Jim McGinty's media release [pdf] and the media reports below.

The website for the Consultative Committee is www.humanrights.wa.gov.au
